Not So new: My Babysitter's a Vampire

Monday, September 26, 2011

So yes we live in a world where vampires are present everywhere: movies, tv shows, books, commercials and apparently since 2010 at Disney Chanel.
My Babysitter's a Vampire was  a movie and became a tv series starting with this year. I only saw the movie and is cute for kids and other innocent Disney viewers, but there was something that didn't really caught my full attention.

So here is the trailer of the movie:

          Summary:

The series follows the adventures of a geeky freshman boy named Ethan Morgan , a Seer who has visions when he touches anything paranormal, his best friend Benny , a spellmaster, and his vampire babysitter Sarah as they chase down supernatural forces. They are often aided by Rory, their dorky friend who was turned into a vampire in the pilot film, and Erica , Sarah's best friend, who also became a vampire in the pilot film.

New Release: Once Upon a Time

Friday, September 23, 2011

After canceling The Nine Lives Of Chloe King, ABC decided to release another tv series with supernatural theme. It looks promising until now and we sure hope that it will last longer than  a season.
The official release date according to IMDB and The Official Site is 23 October 2011 - 8/7 c.

Trailer:

Summary:
And they all lived happily ever after – or so everyone was led to believe. Emma Swan knows how to take care of herself. She's a 28-year-old bail bonds collector who's been on her own ever since she was abandoned as a baby. But when the son she gave up years ago finds her, everything starts to change. Henry is now 10 years old and in desperate need of Emma's help. He believes that Emma actually comes from an alternate world and is Snow White and Prince Charming's missing daughter. According to his book of fairytales, they sent her away to protect her from the Evil Queen's curse, which trapped the fairytale world forever, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world. Of course Emma doesn't believe a word, but when she brings Henry back to Storybrooke, she finds herself drawn to this unusual boy and his strange New England town. Concerned for Henry, she decides to stay for a while, but she soon suspects that Storybrooke is more than it seems. It's a place where magic has been forgotten, but is still powerfully close… where fairytale characters are alive, even though they don't remember who they once were. The epic battle for the future of all worlds is beginning, but for good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.

67 % off - The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

Tuesday, September 20, 2011
Just ordered myself a copy of The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova (from BookDepository) at a great price. Just 4.69$ for a 720 pages book in a paperback format from the initial price of 14.47$. I just wanted this for such a long time and I thought I should share with you.
Here is a brief introduction of the book:

RRP $14.47 - 4.69$

In this riveting debut of breathtaking scope, a young girl discovers her father's darkest secret and embarks on a harrowing journey across Europe to complete the quest he never could -- to find history's most legendary fiend -- Dracula.
When a motherless American girl living in Europe finds a medieval book and a package of letters, all addressed ominously to "My dear and unfortunate successor..." she begins to unravel a thread that leads back to her father's past, his mentor's career, and an evil hidden in the depths of history.
In those few quiet moments, she unwittingly assumes a quest she will discover is her birthright -- a hunt that nearly brought her father to ruin and may have claimed the life of his adviser and dear friend, history professor Bartholomew Rossi. What does the legend of Vlad the Impaler, the historical Dracula, have to do with the 20th century? Is it possible that Dracula has lived on in the modern world? And why have a select few historians risked reputation, sanity, and even their lives to learn the answer?
So begins an epic journey to unlock the secrets of the strange medieval book, an adventure that will carry our heroine across Europe and into the past -- not only to the times of Vlad's heinous reign, but to the days when her mother was alive and her father was still a vibrant young scholar. In the end, she uncovers the startling fate of Rossi, and comes face to face with the definition of evil -- to find, ultimately, that good may not always triumph.

We are waiting for the day when we will find each other. We will make our last stand together—if we win, we are saved, and you are saved as well. If we lose, all is lost.

My very first alien book and I liked it more than I thought. Of course as usual I saw the movie first than I was able to purchase the book and I was glad to see that the book had much more than the movie. So the main character John is a teenage alien arrived with  10 years ago on Earth along with other kids in order to hide from the big bad aliens that are after our planet now.
The book has it all from love and great fighting scenes, which are so accurate described that keeps you blocked right in the middle of the action. Loved the entire book, but the end was heartbreaking. I hate it when characters that I like just die. By the way, I adored all the characters, even Mark, who was pretty annoying at the beginning, but he risked his live at the end in order to save others so yaiii Mark.
I am now expecting the sequel The Power Of Six. I am so curious to know where Six, Four and Sam will end up, or if they will find the others.
