On My Wish List(3): Buffy The Vampire Slayer Readings (Part 1)

Wednesday, January 25, 2012
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is obviously my most favorite Vampire TvShow and it even beats some Movies and Books. I decided to make a huge On My Wish List for me (for future purchases) and for VPS.
And here it begins:

1. After the show ended the story continued in comic books mode with season 8 with a total of 40 issues.

Where to buy:
BookDepository: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 8
Ebay: Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Season 8

2. A three book series of Buffy short stories:

In Coyote Moon, a typical night at the carnival becomes deadly as shape shifters turn the amusement park into their own house of horrors.
Buffy starts having past-life nightmares in Night of the Living Rerun, and must face her historic counterpart before the events of the past repeat in the present.
In Portal through Time, Slayers over the centuries are in danger, and Buffy must protect them in order to save her own life and legacy.
Where to buy:

In Halloween Rain, as if Halloween at the Hellmouth isn’t bad enough, a brewing storm threatens to bring new demons to life, just in time for a celebratory massacre.
A curse on the school’s rummage sale causes strange behavior in the halls of Sunnydale High in Bad Bargain.
Buffy and her friends are looking forward to the revival of the old drive-in theater, but when people start slipping into comas in Afterimage, this late show may be their last….
Where to buy:

A night at the fair becomes a night of terror for Buffy and her friends when their personalities start matching the amusements in the park in Carnival of Souls.
In One Thing or Your Mother, Buffy must face a fear worse than her typical demon: children.
In Blooded, Willow accidentally turns her body into a vessel for the spirit of an ancient warrior—and he’s out for revenge.
Where to Buy:

3. Tales of The Slayer

Tales of the Slayer, Vol. 1, chronicles Slayers past who have influenced -- and are influenced by -- the traditions and mythologies of yore. From ancient Greece, to aristocratic Slayers holding court in revolution-era France, to the legend of the Bloody Countess Elizabeth Bathory, to 1920's Munich, each girl has a personal history, a shared moral code, and a commitment to conquer evil, regardless of the cost...
Where to Buy:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer has always held an irreverent attitude toward her calling, but ultimately she understands the ramifications of her destiny and is prepared to die to protect the world from Evil. In fact, she has died. Twice.
"I remember the drill. One Slayer dies, another is called." -- Buffy Summers
It's an ancient tradition, steeped in lore, mythology, and fateful prophecies. Slayerdom consists of a Council of Watchers, a continuum of slayers, an archive of journals, and even a handbook.

Where to buy:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is but the latest in a long line of women warriors stretching back to the dawn of humankind. As long as there have been vampires, there has been a Slayer. Usually called in her teens, the Chosen One leads a brief life full of conflict and doom.
From the Anasazi villages of A.D. 1250 to Shanghai, China, in 1866, from Hollywood in the '40s to Buffy's predecessor in Tokyo of the '90s, Slayers have always risen above their most recent defeat.
Where to buy:

At eighteen, each Slayer must face a terrifying trial: the Tento di Cruciamentum.
Tales of the Slayer, Vol. 4 chronicles the Cruciamentum of eight earlier Slayers. From Prohibition Chicago to beatnik New York City, from the sideshows of a traveling carnival to a small Irish farm, from the fifteenth century to the twentieth, the Cruciamentum has tested the prowess of Slayers throughout history. Each of them has had to fight: for her job, for the lives of those she loved, and for her own existence....

On My Wish List (2): The Book of Lost Souls by Michelle Muto

Saturday, January 14, 2012

About the book:

When teen witch Ivy MacTavish changes a lizard into her date for a Halloween dance, everything turns to chaos. And when no one is powerful enough to transform him back except Ivy, it sparks the rumor: Like father, like daughter. Ivy has heard it all before – that her father, who left when she was seven – was involved with the darkest of magic.
Making the rumors worse, someone uses an evil spell book to bring back two of history’s most nefarious killers. Ivy’s got a simple plan to set things right: find the real dark spell caster, steal the book, and reverse the spell. No problem! But she’ll have to deal with something more dangerous than murderous spirits that want her and her friends dead: the school’s resident bad boy and hotter-than-brimstone demon, Nick Marcelli. Nick’s offering Ivy more than his help with recovering the missing book – he’s offering her a way to ditch her scaly reputation as a lizard-lover. Demons are about as hard to handle as black magic, and as Ivy soon discovers, it’s going to take more than a lot of luck and a little charm if she wants to survive long enough to clear her status as a dark witch, get a warm-blooded boyfriend, and have her former date back to eating meal worms before the week’s end.

Wizards of Waverly Place - last impressions

Thursday, January 12, 2012

Wizards of Waverly Place is about a family of with 3 children who are wizards. But, Only one child from each family can keep their powers and when they learn enough they compete to win the family powers. There's Alex who doesn't really care about life and uses magic to do things she thinks are hard which usually makes things worse. Justin is the oldest Russo child and is very smart and plans on becoming the family wizard. Max is the youngest and the spells he uses usually backfire. He is oddly the farthest in the competition since his two older siblings were set back from the Competition for revealing the secret. Harper Finkle knows the Russo's secret and lives with them. She is Alex's best friend.

So yes I did watch Wizards of Waverly Place on Disney Chanel because I love any supernatural theme movie or Tv Show. This was basically a comedy and it reminded me in small therms of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, well with a huge difference that Alex could have been really ... bitter at some points and as far as I remember Sabrina was really nice. Anyway I have been expecting for the last episode for a month and everyone started assuming about which of the brothers will end up the family wizard and everyone started assuming and so did I.

Kind of disappointed in the last episode (WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS)

So people assumed that the family wizard will become either Alex or Justin, maybe Max...that being a surprise for everyone (it happened for him to be the first in the family competition so why not). There was also a theory that all the brothers could keep their powers or as the last option with small chances in happening: none of the Russos (almost happened). So the competition started and at the end Alex was in front, but stopped to help her brother, Justin and Max reached them and was kind of a tie. Still Alex won the competition and she received all the power then Justin was hired as a magic professor. So yeah, there were in the and two of the Russos that got to keep their powers and it didn't seemed fair. I feel sorry for Max, because even though he had less chances he could managed to reach his two brothers and finished close to them, still he got nothing.
I guess I would have expected that just one, all or none of the brothers to win. That would have make it fair.
But the show was decent and I liked how it combined the magic world with the real one, all the mythical creatures that we got to see: from vampires and werewolves to angels and dragon dogs. (^_^)
