Original Cover and Summary

My name is Raine Benares. I’m a seeker. The people who hire me are usually happy when I find things. But some things are better left unfound…
Raine is a sorceress of moderate powers, from an extended family of smugglers and thieves. With a mix of street smarts and magic spells, she can usually take care of herself. But when her friend Quentin, a not-quite-reformed thief, steals an amulet from the home of a powerful necromancer, Raine finds herself wrapped up in more trouble than she cares for. She likes attention as much as the next girl, but having an army of militant goblins hunting her down is not her idea of a good time. The amulet they’re after holds limitless power, derived from an ancient, soul-stealing stone. And when Raine takes possession of the item, it takes possession of her.
Now her moderate powers are increasing beyond anything she could imagine—but is the resumé enhancement worth her soul?

Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

Frannie Cavanaugh has always been a bit of a loner. She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance, even her closest friends. That is, until Luc Cain enrolls in her school. He's hot, sarcastic, and dangerous—and Frannie can't seem to stay away.
What she doesn't know is that Luc is on a mission. Because Frannie isn't exactly ordinary. She possesses a skill so unique that the king of Hell himself has taken notice, and he's sent Luc to claim Frannie's soul. It should be easy: All he has to do is get her to sin, and Luc is as tempting as they come.
Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and he's just started making progress when the angel Gabriel shows up. Gabe will do anything to keep Luc from getting what he came for, and his angelic charm might just be enough to keep Frannie on the right path.
It isn't long before Luc and Gabe find themselves fighting for more than just Frannie's soul. But if Luc fails to win her over, there will be Hell to pay . . . for all of them.

My general opinion: LOVED IT!!! I never thought I would like this book so much, but it happened. I was not a fan of the story tolled from the point of view of two characters. I really wanted to know more how Luc feels, because well he is a demon and that is a world with which you don’t interact too much. It was fun to enter in Luc’s world as he evolves from the demon he was into being madly in love with Frannie. I found “Personal Demons” full of emotions and maybe this was my favorite part, because I loved the accurate descriptions which were so nicely combined with the action part.
My favorite character is obvious Luc, well yeah because he is a demon and because he knew exactly what he wanted and how he felt thru the entire story, no extra questions asked, maybe this is because his demon nature. He is the opposite of Frannie when we talk about feeling, because she is mostly unsecure. But I also wanted to know more about Gabe. I only found out that he is an angel, he has powers and he is in love with Frannie too.
And now I’m waiting for the release of the Original Sin, part two of the story, which I hope it will take place in LA and maybe we will know more about Gabe (the angel).

Team Casters!

Monday, November 29, 2010
Yep...wizards, sorcerers, cast spellers. They are known by many names, but I know them by one name only: Harry Potter, my high school obsession. I remember that this series was so new for me (until then I was forced to read only school literature). Harry Potter was actually a pleasure.

How could you not love wizards and witches, which by definition introduces us in the world of magic. Talking animals, levitation oh and the flying broomsticks, magical potions and so on.

Another wizard that I know is from a movie that I enjoyed: Balthazar Blake (Nicholas Cage) from The Sorcerer's Apprentice, a movie that has as always in the middle of the action a clueless young sorcerer that learns the art of magic with the help with his master.

I just remembered another wizard from the Summoning by Kelley Armstrong, Simon I think it was his name, a calm boy with magical powers, this is what I remember about him.

Team Angels!

My entry for the poster/banner Team Angels!
This one should be my number one. Who doesn't like angels? There are so many books with and about them, but I've also seen some movies that I really enjoyed. First of all there was Fallen with Paul Wesley, actually a three part movie with a boy that finds out that he is a nephilim, a child of a mortal and an fallen angel. And there is also The Legion, a more recent movie about a near Apocalypse. I don't think this one had a lot of romance, it was more of an action movie, but I enjoyed it. And not to forget le crème de la crème ...Castiel...and yes from Supernatural. He is also an angel so it counts. Why I like him so much? That is easy, naivety has never been so funny!!!

Now about my books with angels:

and this is a little poor I know.

Team Vampires!

Monday, November 29, 2010
My entry for the poster/banner Team Vampire
If I would be asked what is my favorite mythological creature at this point , I would say that definitely vampires. Vampire Diaries, House of Night, Bram Stoker's Dracula, not to mention all the TV Shows  alive and kicking right now in TV. It is fascinating how vampires have evolved from pure legends to Bram Stoker and L.J. Smith, from a cold blooded killer to a cold blooded hero or lover. Thanks to very good writers, vampires and not only are introduced in novels as students among other teenagers or as fighters of the law (Moonlight). I just love the vivid imagination of the authors in this case!
So among my favorites are: Vampire Diaries, Darren Shan, House of Night, Dracula and this is a new one for me Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine.

Top Five Sunday - Favorite Vampires

Monday, November 22, 2010
Top 5 Sunday is hosted by Larissa
This week's subject: vampires and shifters, but since I've read an amount of zero novels with shape shifters, I will stop at vampires among books, movies and TV shows. And no I'm not obsessed only with vampires, I like most of the supernatural beings except zombies (that is because I only saw horror movies with them).
So...if I had to choose from all the vampires I've read or seen at TV in no order it would be:
Zoey Redbird from House of Night. Or maybe I like her history, the Cherokee background, the whole chosen thing and all the magic combined with the vampire story; totally different.
Mick St. John from Moonlight is relatively young, only 85 years old. He successfully combines his two jobs: a vampire and a private investigator.

Well, is Dracula!!! Is the oldest vampire story I've read.

Darren Shan is indeed the youngest vampire, I've read about. He is only 14-16 years old(I don't remember exactly) and he is only a half vampire, newly transformed.

Yeah I know, this is such a cliche, but I like the way Damon Salvatore from Vampire Diaries combines in a  weird way the old and new vampire (the charm and killer instinct).

This is my top 5 favorite vampires, go to Larissa and tell her your top 5 and I don't mind if you throw your link over here in a comment, because I'm curious. (^_^)
